First day at VCC in May 2008
Back to Project:
Let’s admit it, our car did not look like much back in 2008. This was obvious even to my automotive trade untrained eye. I think it even scared away some people away who referred to it as junk. Prior to arriving at Vancouver Community College shop in May 2008 the remnant of 1935 Ford was rusting in a Saskatchewan field before being rescued by our volunteer Sargent Tim.
We were all looking at the same thing but the difference was where others saw a huge obstacle, a number of us from Ray-Cam, VPD and VCC saw an opportunity. The idea was to turn this old thing into something cool like 1935 Ford Police Hot Rod Parade Car with a help from youth from Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. The car was always going to be a tool and the real products were to going be our young people gaining sill and confidence.
The 1935 Ford has come a long way since 2008 with a help of many people and organization who donated their time and money. It still has a way to go before it can be seen at community events and we would like to share our journey so far and give updates on our progress.
