Starting Point For eBay Electric Guitar Kit - Unpack & Hope

Nov. 03, 2015

The kit came pretty fast from the eBay selling and I was pretty impressed by the quality. I had 'really' low expectations mind you. I figured it was cheap enough that if I messed something up I could just toss the whole thing away.

It was a really smooth eBay transaction and I would buy from the same seller again.

That said, my intention was to do this right and be happy with the outcome. The guitar is a double cutaway electric much like many of the manufacturers out there have. My intention is to really just use the body and the neck and put on better quality components and electrical pieces.

You could use the parts that come with the kit, but some of them are extremely cheap and I think it could be problematic. Everything on the guitar is predrilled though, so you are limited to only using different parts that will work with the exisiting build. It is pretty straight forward though. Primaily Gibson style components.

The kit has a glue on neck so I am really hoping that the alignment is good. It fits quite snug and I noted it had matching numbers on the neck and the body slot. Good sign.

Pretty standard Gibson inlays and head stock. The frets seem pretty decent too. They have had some form of dressing. The rosewood fretboard is really dry though. It is going to need some conditioning.

The knobs are recessed which caught me off guard at first. I soon realized that this is a PRS Guitar type look so hoping that it looks good when it is all assembled.
