It all started for Workin' Bridges back in 2013.
Back to Project:
We were contacted by the Comer Bridge Foundation to help them try to save the last toll bridge built in the 1930s from demolition. We knew it would be difficult, but Workin' Bridges knew that without our expertise, the collaboration of engineer and craftsman, that these folks had a tough row to hoe! So we jumped in. What follows is the story of jumping in to a beautiful area in northeast Alabama, a story that speaks to the history of the Tennessee Valley Authority and Alabama. It speaks of politics and follow the money, it speaks about abuses of power and the willingness of a few to spend countless hours trying to save part of their history. It also speaks about Ospreys who call this bridge their home.
