Project 41 chevy
When we began the serch for our project we were looking for somthing from the 40's or 50's. My Collision repair club stundets serched countless hours looking for the perfect project. When we began looking , I was very firm on finding a vehicle which was clean and for the most part rust free. I explained to the students how sometimes its better to spend a little more on a vehicle thats been taken care of, as this could save alot of headaches in the future. Keeping in mind these are sudents who have been working on vehicles for two years or less, we all agreed that a clean rust free vehicle would be the way to go. So after school one day me and four student loaded up and headed out to look at a clean 1950 chevy pick up, all the way there the students were so excited looking up fixed up pick ups on thier phones and imagining what modifications they were going to do the truck when they got it. Well after a two hour car ride we arive to the location only to find the truck was in the process of being sold. The owner of the location had several vehicles on the property but seemed to be out of price range. As I was talking to the owner who was apoligizing for us having to drive all the way out there for nothing, I look over and the students are standing next to this Super rust 41 chevy. As I shouted "Hey guys its time to go" None of them moved, they sat on the car until I walk over to them. to my suprise the students said the car spoke to them and they werent leaving without the car. As I looked at them and said " We agreed on finding a cleaner vehicle" All they could say is "We got this as the owner looked at the boys and said "if you can dig it out its yours". Seeing the excitment on the students faces I knew thsi was the one, we loaded the car up and project 41 began. Once we got back to the school and got the car unloaded we began a resoration plan. We decided to build our own frame from scratch, incorperating updated brakes ,suspension , and drivetrain.
